Over the years, The Angel Bakery has sold its cupcakes at many food festivals including large events such as the Cheltenham and the Bath food festivals. But there is one little festival that has a place in our heart and that is the Tetbury Food and Drink Festival.
Five years ago a very small group of enthusiastic, hard working (and unstoppable) ‘Tetbury-ites’ decided to create a local food festival. With little funding they managed to create an event that has gone from strength to strength, encompassing everything that is great about British food.
The week long festival takes in many aspects of food and food production. You can get an insight in to organic farming by taking a tour of the Duchy Home Farm or learn how to make cheese under the guidance of Melissa Raven of Woefuldane Dairy.
Various hotels and restaurants will also be putting on their own special menus for the event and officionados of the great British banger might be interested to know that The Close Hotel will be hosting the annual Gloucester Old Spot Sausage Appreciation Society Dinner – yumm!!
The week of feastivities culminates on the Sunday with a Producers Market where you will find over 40 local businesses selling their tasty products. During the day there will be demonstrations from celebrated chefs, writers and bakers including Xanthe Clay, Tom Herbert and others, including sausage making, butchery and bread making to name a few.
You’ll also find us there with our range of seasonal cupcakes, bakes and tarts. And we will be giving you the chance to bag yourself a FREE cupcake. Keep an eye on our cupcake link to find out how …..

Whipping up so many batches of delicious cupcakes for lots of lovely weddings, parties and also our market stall has meant that the time has whizzed by leaving very little time for our blog, so here are the latest offerings for your delectation.
We created a fabulous tower of cupcakes for a couple who held their wedding at The Old Lodge, Minchinhampton. The lovely couple could not have chosen a better day for their celebration with probably one of the warmest weekends we have had in a long time and the setting high up on Minchinhampton Common was perfect.

The next wedding extravaganza was to set up cupcake towers for two separate weddings on the same day – the first at The Great Tythe Barn in Tetbury and then a mad rush over to The Bear at Rodborough for the second.
Located on a former working farm, just a short walk from the centre of Tetbury, The Great Tythe Barn provided the perfect location for the first wedding. We baked a tower of delicious vanilla cupcakes and decorated them to match the theme of ‘Tiffany Blue’. The finishing touch was one of our cute little American-style layer cakes, decorated with miniature sugar roses.

With the photos taken, it was then a dash across to Rodborough to set up for a small wedding at The Bear for a high tea reception. This wedding was organized by the bride and groom in just three weeks, a real feat, so it was a pleasure to be able to create some cupcakes for their special occasion.

Creating cupcakes for weddings gives us the opportunity to get to see the amazing variety of wedding venues available in the Cotswolds. Another popular venue is the Kingscote Barn, near Tetbury. This 17th century barn is part of an amazing complex of sympathetically converted barns that provide a stunning and secluded setting for weddings. Our cupcake tower for this next wedding was based on a Chocolate, Caramel and Latte theme and they certainly looked a picture in the main wedding barn.

If you are a bit of a cake connoisseur you will have probably already heard of a new trend in cake-a-licious-ness the Whoopie Pie
Whoopie pies originated in the U.S. when Amish women used to bake these little cakes (sometimes also known as Hucklebucks) to put in lunchboxes. The surprise of finding these tasty treats by the recipient resulted in the cry of “Whoopie!” The Whoopie Pie is a cakey take on the Oreo biscuit but, dare we say, far more scrumptious. A crisp exterior surrounds the two little mounds of dense rich chocolate cake that are then sandwiched together with light and creamy buttercream.
Bag yourself a Whoopie Pie from our stall at Cirencester Farmers market and you’ll have the perfect accompaniment to your morning coffee or a fresh glass of milk

The wedding season is well and truly underway and we are now fully booked for the Summer months with some great couples requesting our cupcakes for their wedding celebrations. Cupcakes have really taken off as an alternative to the traditional wedding cake and creating bespoke cupcakes for each couple is a real thrill as it gives us a chance to have some fun and be really creative with our designs.
Some time ago we baked cupcakes for the lovely Claire and Chris who were holding their wedding at the Kingscote Barn near Tetbury.
This fabulous couple were a pleasure to work with and they were so excited to be having cupcakes for their wedding. Taking their ideas for their winter wedding theme, we created some lovely designs for their big day.
They emailed us recently to say how much they loved their wedding cupcakes “Just to say a huge thank you for the cupcakes at our wedding. They looked absolutely fabulous and we received so many compliments on how delicious they were”.
They’ve also sent in a lovely photo from their wedding day – their smiles say it all!

Wishing you every happiness in your new married life, Claire and Chris – stay in touch.

If you would like The Angel Bakery to create heavenly cupcakes for your special day email us for further information.

Now available from our stall at the fortnightly Cirencester Farmers Market is the Moonwalk Cupcake, a charity cupcake created by us for The Cotswold Cupcakes, a team of power walkers who will be taking part in the Playtex Moonwalk 2010 on 15th May in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
The lovely ladies, resplendent in pink, turned up to launch their charity cupcake and brightened up an otherwise cloudy Saturday morning in the process. After which they bid farewell and gallantly went on their way to complete a 10 mile walk as part of their training regime.
The Moonwalk Cupcake, £1.85, will be on sale from The Angel Bakery stall at Cirencester Farmers market from now until 15th May. Proceeds from the sale of each cake will go to the Cotswold Cupcakes fundraising appeal. You can also make a donation on their fundraising page

A couple of weeks ago our cute little cupcakes were requested for a photo shoot in Hello! magazine.

Photographed as part of the Mother’s Day feature with Jackie
Llewelyn-Bowen our cupcakes, adorned with sprinkles and butterflies,
looked adorable in all their sparkly fabulousness!
Also featured was our magnificent chocolate cake in all its glory, one
of our range of American-style layer cakes. These lavish creations are
definitely not shy in the cake department, with four layers of
deliciously light sponge filled with decadent buttercream or cream
cheese frostings. The perfect choice as a party cake, they currently
come in an 8” size and you can choose from a range of Vanilla,
Lemon, Chocolate, Red Velvet or Carrot.
Call us or send us an email for more information
