Over the years, The Angel Bakery has sold its cupcakes at many food festivals including large events such as the Cheltenham and the Bath food festivals. But there is one little festival that has a place in our heart and that is the Tetbury Food and Drink Festival.
Five years ago a very small group of enthusiastic, hard working (and unstoppable) ‘Tetbury-ites’ decided to create a local food festival. With little funding they managed to create an event that has gone from strength to strength, encompassing everything that is great about British food.
The week long festival takes in many aspects of food and food production. You can get an insight in to organic farming by taking a tour of the Duchy Home Farm or learn how to make cheese under the guidance of Melissa Raven of Woefuldane Dairy.
Various hotels and restaurants will also be putting on their own special menus for the event and officionados of the great British banger might be interested to know that The Close Hotel will be hosting the annual Gloucester Old Spot Sausage Appreciation Society Dinner – yumm!!
The week of feastivities culminates on the Sunday with a Producers Market where you will find over 40 local businesses selling their tasty products. During the day there will be demonstrations from celebrated chefs, writers and bakers including Xanthe Clay, Tom Herbert and others, including sausage making, butchery and bread making to name a few.
You’ll also find us there with our range of seasonal cupcakes, bakes and tarts. And we will be giving you the chance to bag yourself a FREE cupcake. Keep an eye on our cupcake link to find out how …..

Time always flies and before we know it we are always behind with our blogging! So here is a brief update to keep you posted with what we have been doing here at The Angel Bakery.
No sooner had we turned the corner into 2011, than we were straight into an array of weddings and parties. We’ve supplied our tiers of cupcakes at venues across the Cotswolds including Cripps Barn, Barnsley House, The Great Tythe Barn and the Manor House Hotel in Moreton-in-the-Marsh.
Our wedding diary is now fully booked for 2011 and we have some fantastic weddings lined up throughout the year so we will keep you posted.
We took a breather from the Cirencester Farmers Market in January, but we have now been back on our regular stall for the past couple of months.
Our cupcakes are as popular as ever and we have now introduced our new RetroBakes range.
RetroBakes is a range of old forgotten favourites including Maids of Honour, Congress Tarts, Muckymouth Tart and of course deliciously traditional Custard tarts. We will also be adding to the range as we go through the season with an elderflower Sambocade and a Strawberry & Verjuice tart.
We’ve got some exciting events lined up over the next few months, and we’ve been asked to provide a wedding cake for a very special event that is happening in April of this year. No, not THAT special event, but another royal celebration that is happening on the same day in our fabulous town of Tetbury! Keep an eye out for it in future blogs.
Cheers for now!

The New Year kicked off with a bang and having had a mad Christmas, we were hoping to gently ease into the new year but there has been no let up. Cupcakes have been baked in abundance throughout January with some fab birthday bashes supplied – whether for an 18th, 21st or a 40th, we have done them all and had fun in the process.
We took a break from the Cirencester Farmers Market for a couple of weeks so that we could concentrate on our new range of products which we will be launching on our return in February. Our regular market customers will know that not only do we do a delicious range of cupcakes and layer cakes, but we also make fabulous tarts and a range of gluten-free brownies.
Staying true to our belief in using quality, local ingredients our new ‘RetroBakes’ range of pies and tarts will be making the most of fresh, seasonal produce and will vary throughout the year. Our Pear Frangipane and Prune and Almagnac tartlets went down a storm at the farmers market and we will be adding some old fashioned favourites such as Custard, Maids of Honour, Lemon Pudding and Congress Tarts as well as featuring some seasonal forgotten recipes such as Muckymouth tart and Sambocade.
You can get regular updates from The Angel Bakery by following our Twitter page or becoming a fan on Facebook

In September 2009, Tetbury was lucky enough to have a new addition to it’s high street in the form of Qetty Bang Bang – a fabulous vintage clothing boutique run by founder and creative director, Kerry Spurry.

We were asked by Kerry (Qetty) to create some canape cupcakes for her launch party and since then we have supplied cute little bites for other special events at her amazing boutique.
We will be teaming up with Qetty again on Sunday 7th November for another of her very special ‘invitation only’ shopping events.
If you would like to receive a personal invitation by Royal Mail, which will include a discount of 15% off all clothing, and Alex Monroe jewellery too, please send your name and address to info@Qettybangbang.co.uk
Qetty Bang Bang will be showcasing their new gift ranges from Miss Budd, Faux Kiss, Aiga Ceramics, the Curious Chocolate Company and we will be there with some delicious canape cupcakes accompanied by a glass of something special.
With a wide array of fabulous vintage designs and jewellery to choose from this is the perfect opportunity to get ahead for Christmas without the headache!

It takes a brave bride to organize a wedding from as far away as Australia, but that is exactly what Kate did when she organized her wedding back in August. Kate contacted the Angel Bakery having seen our cakes on our website and booked us there and then.
The wedding took place at The Bear at Rodborough and the theme was vintage. Kate’s favourite cake is coconut so we made sure we had that in her chosen mix and they were topped with petite flowers, pale pink roses and fresh strawberries.

On their return to Australia, Kate sent a wonderful email…
“We have just returned from our Honeymoon and are back in Australia. I just wanted to send you an email thanking you for the amazing cupcakes you made for our wedding on the 12th at the Bear of Rodborough. Oh my god, they were soooo nice. People are still talking about them. They were the nicest cupcakes i have ever had (including my own, and as an obsessive baker that really hurts). They looked so pretty on our sweets table (i’ll send you a photo when i get them) and then the flavour was magnificent. All my family are big foodies and we were all blown away. I would beg for the recipes but i suspect they would be a trade secret!
Write a recipe book, please! Beautiful, amazing, fresh and such lovely ingredients you can really taste.
Many thanks, i’ll remember them for ages.”

Don’t forget that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and here at the Angel Bakery we are keen to show our support.
Earlier in the year we created our ‘Moonwalk’ cupcake to raise funds for the Cotswolds Cupcakes, a group of ladies who successfully completed the Playtex Moonwalk in London. The sale of the cupcakes raised a fantastic £198.00 which was donated to boost their fundraising appeal.
Throughout the month of October we will be selling our pretty little ‘Think Pink’ cupcakes with the proceeds going to the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Appeal. You can buy direct from our stall at Cirencester Farmers Market (£1.85 each) or you can order a gift box of 12 (£22.75) and have them delivered. (Delivery is extra)

Each cupcake is beautifully decorated making them an elegant addition to a tea party or an ideal gift for someone special.
These cakes will be available from our stall at Cirencester Farmers Market on Saturday 9th October and Saturday 23rd October or email us if you would like to order a gift box

We’ve been very busy at The Angel Bakery and the past couple of months have been filled with lots of weddings, parties, food festivals and of course cupcakes!
Retro Cool….
We created a gorgeous tier of Black Forest cupcakes for Ailsa and Greg who held their wedding at the lovely Kingscote Barn. Ailsa and Greg wanted something a bit different and decided to go all out for the retro Black Forest theme.

Each cupcake was traditionally filled with kirsch soaked black cherries and topped with a kirsch frosting, rich dark chocolate and deliciously fresh, seasonal black cherries on their stems. The tier was topped off with a cute little Black Forest gateau. A large version was also made to take back home for all those who were unable to make it to the wedding!
Lovely in Lavender..
Another wedding creation was for Tamara and Matt who had their wedding at Cripps Barn near Bibury. They wanted to go for an array of flavours with Lemon, Rocky Road, Spiced Apple, Vanilla and Carrot as their chosen mix.

The colour scheme was a very pretty combination of lilacs, lavenders, purples and pistachios and their cupcake tier was topped off with a fun, giant cupcake.

Because of the amazing response to our competition we have increased the number of boxes we have given away, so congratulations to Christine from Malmesbury, Andrew from Rodborough, Penny from Cheltenham and Beryl from Oaksey
Sorry to everyone who was unlucky on this occasion. But don’t despair there will be other opportunities to bag a FREE cupcake from The Angel Bakery so keep checking our blog, twitter or facebook pages to stay posted
